Different things go in different directions

Monday, May 30th, 2005

We’ve got interesting stuff going on here behind the scenes. The other day I tried street performing for the first time, and met some interesting people. I only stayed out there for a couple of minutes, but it was fun, and a good experience, I think. I also checked out a local venue in Nashville called Rocketown, which is AWESOME. I’m dying to play there.

After doing those things, I hit an open mic with some really good quality performers.

Then this weekend, I was in the wedding of my old roomate, and spent some time in Alabama with my grandparents.

…Meanwhile, back in internet world…

If you’ve followed us over the last two years, you’ve probably noticed a lot of website changes. What you are seeing right now is the fourth major, from the bottom up, rebuild of our entire site.

Well, we’re gearing up for the fifth. Expect a huge leap forward in what you are able to do here, and the stuff that’s available.

Expect to be amazed….woooooo….

Adventure in Dayton

Saturday, May 21st, 2005

Last night was our Dayton Borders Cafe show…though *some* band members thought it was the Attic Club show (scheduled for tonight, not last night) and went to the completely wrong side of town. Micah drove up from our soon-to-be new headquarters of Nashville, TN, while Gabe and I came from Scott Depot, WV…forgetting to bring a cellphone, map, or any other kind of useful tool that you would normally think to bring on a trip. But eventually, after purchasing a phone card from a local CVS and buying an oversized map, me and Gabe found our way to the Borders Cafe and had a great show. Our pals from Dayton University showed up and we hung out after the show talking about our past adventures with car breakdowns and freaky old men. I think we almost convinced them to move to Nashville with us and rent an OCTOPLEX (duplex x 4 = octoplex)…sorry…inside joke :-) . Anyway, we had a fun show last night. We’ll see everyone tonight at the Attic Club. -Siah

apartment…

Wednesday, May 18th, 2005

Still looking for an apartment while staying with a guy I knew from school. I’ve got a particular one I definitely want. Hopefully, everything will work out, and I’ll talk to the land-lady on Wednesday.

We’ll see…

first day

Wednesday, May 18th, 2005

So Monday was my first day…

It was fun, and I got to meet all my managers at my store, as well as people from all over the country who were training with us. I ate lunch at Backyard Burgers, and ate a Veggie burger, which was actually good.

At night I was tired out of my mind. I’m not used to sitting all day…standing, yes. Sitting, no. And eating regular meals, instead of eating all through the day, is hard for me to get used to.

I wanted to hit some open mics Monday night, but Bluebird Cafe requires signup at 5:30, and I didn’t leave work til 6:00pm. We went to hunt down another one, but it turns out that it was extremely skanky. So I didn’t even stop at the place.

I may try some street-performing some time…

Moving to Nashville…

Wednesday, May 18th, 2005

Okay, well I’m gonna start journaling my experiences in moving…

Thursday was my last day at Rendezvous in Teays Valley, WV, and on Sunday I made the drive to Nashville. I was hired to work at the new Apple Computer store in the Green Hills section of Nashville as a Part-Time Mac Specialist.

The normal training was supposed to be on the weekends…but I wasn’t able to do that because I’m all booked up on the weekends for weeks. So I was told I would be put in the through-the-week training. Then I was told that it was full, and that I couldn’t come. So here I was in Nashville on Sunday night, not knowing if my training was actually going to happen, not having any info from anyone, and not knowing what to do.

So I just deduced where and when the training was, and showed up Monday morning. Fortunately, they let me in, and let me start. :)
